Central Billing Price freeze for Waste Management

Price Freeze
A price increase (due to landfill tax) that should have been actioned on 1st April 2011 has been deferred to 1st April 2012 for customers using 1100 ltr containers or less. All other containers, due to their nature, will incurr an increase. Central Billing customers will all benefit from this price freeze in addition to the direct savings already enjoyed from our preferred group price.

Landfill Tax
Landfill Tax was introduced in 1996 and was the UK's first environmental tax. It is seen as a key mechanism in enabling the UK to meet its targets set out in the Landfill Directive. The amount of tax levied is calculated according to the weight of the material disposed of and whether it is active or inactive waste.

The landfill site operator is responsible for paying landfill tax. However, operators will pass the cost on to businesses and local councils on top of normal landfill fees. VAT is charged on the landfill fees and the landfill tax.
