Shopping around for the best energy deal

Friday 15 July 2011

Last week we focused your attention to a British Gas announcement that their Gas prices are set to rise. However, this is not really new "news" considering wholesale energy prices have been on a consistent rise, particularly gas prices, for some time now and the trend looks set continue.

In the last two weeks we have seen an increase for Gas and Electric from 3 of the BIG 6 energy suppliers, with Eon following the lead of Scottish Power and British Gas, all introducing August price rises.

In March Ofgem reported a general trend of rising wholesale energy costs, particularly for gas. Since then, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and events in the Middle East have meant further increases to wholesale energy prices.

So, in light of this it further highlights the need to shop around for the best deal. However, who has time while running a business to really do that?

Even as prices have continued to rise Procuria have been able to save businesses money on the gas and electric. By conducting a full market tender we have delivered the best market price at a given time when contracts have been set to renew. We are also better placed to advise whether a 12, 24 or 36 month deal represents the best value.

For our other clients, who's bills might have increased on the previous year, importantly we've managed to limited that increase by less than had they accepted their incumbent suppliers' standard renewal quote.

With all indicators pointing at further increases over the next 12-24 months it should be a priority for all business owners and managers to focus on limiting overhead exposure. Procuria offers a cost efficient and time effective way to manage your energy contracts.
