Wednesday 17 August 2011
On Tuesday 16th August npower announced an increase of 15.7% for gas and 7.2% for electricity on standard unit rates and will come into effect from Saturday 1st October 2011.
This week see's the fifth of the major energy suppliers put their prices up. Npower dual fuel customers will see a rise of an average of 12.2% from October. The change will take effect immediately for new customers. Npower state the increases are due to reduced quantities of North Sea gas, meaning that they need to purchase more energy on the global wholesale market, which has seen increases due to world events, along with distribution and network costs also increasing, resulting in the increases being passed onto its customers. Some tariffs are unaffected by the price changes and these include customers on Sign Online 23, Price Protector and Go Fix 7.
